I was a bit late to the Riverdale game. Six seasons late to be exact. I kept seeing it as suggested watching on Netflix so I decided to give it a try.
I’m not sure what I was expecting, maybe something cute or funny. But this show is just dark. I didn’t know that it was based on the characters of the Archie comics. And having never read those, I don’t know if they were dark as well? I never really thought of Archie, Betty, and Veronica as dealing with serial killers, drug dealers, sex, violence, mobsters, and really, really, really bad parents. I mean, really bad.
I’m just getting to the end of Season 2, and I’m invested in these characters so I will continue to watch.
I can’t figure out where it’s going. It’s definitely interesting, but I wouldn’t want to live there and I can’t think of a single character that I’d like to sit and have a milkshake with at Pop’s Diner.
