I am typically not a fan of historical novels, but this book captured me right away. I became invested in the characters and in the story. Harrow paints a very clear and compelling picture of the environment, without getting lost in too many words. The story is always the main track.
In 1893, 200 years after the Salem Witch Trials ended, witchcraft has become little more than an old wives tale or nursery rhyme. Superstition and stories used to scare children. And the witches always lose in the end. But maybe this time will be different.
The Eastwood sisters, Belladonna, Amaranth, and Juniper, separated by distance and hard feelings are reunited, it seems, by magic. A spell found and uttered. Hope blooms in a time and town where women are given no rights and very little protection.
Each sister harbors a secret and a grudge. Will they be able to work together to help women bring witching back into the world?
Only time, and spells, will tell.
